    Exiting hunt congratulations on your PB and great first stag for Bryan , i share your admiration of these magnificent animals , i am constantly angered to hear miss information based on assumptions being spread by ill informed people and organisation's , Sambar fit into our landscape with very little impact as an asset and resource most people wouldn't even know they were there , i think your idea has potential for time poor city and interstate hunters , business of any kind is about selling your knowledge and skills if people are willing to pay for yours good for you , also think you are right that showing hunting provides business opportunities and the hunting industry has much value provides leverage to governments to manage our wild deer as a resource, hope it works out for you.

    Zebulon, I'm deeply disappointed and outraged that you're selling drop hunts to customers on public land. This practice undermines the spirit of hunting by monetizing what should be a fair pursuit for all. It's frustrating to see keen hunters, who put in the hard work to find deer, have their efforts ruined because of this. Public land should be a shared resource, not a business opportunity.

    • @ZebrasSambarhuntingAdventures

      Hey John, do we know each other ? Strong statement, I'm assuming you hunt similar areas to where I do ? What part of monetising hunting underminds the fair chase ? Is it my clients have an unfair advantage of having me by their side ? Everything about my business is fair chase and ethical. Public land is just that, free for the public to use, including for businesses that operate within them. How would me offering drop hunts ruin a keen hunters hard work ? My clients are but men, human not deer killing machines 🤷 are you also in such strong disagreement of me guiding on public land? Interested to hear your response

    Hello Zeb. I am a subscriber and have been enjoying your content. As a retired businessman and older hunter just getting back into it after a 30 year hiatus I am interested in the idea of guided tours and "drop hunts" (the latter of which I have never heard of until now). You asked for feedback so here is my contribution as to the question of "would I go on a guided hunt or do a drop hunt"? The answer is yes, however, I have to say, that I do a lot of multi day, ultralight bush walks which are reminiscent in both quality of food and equipment that you use on the 5 day guided hunts you host (minus the gun and the hunting). I would say that if I were to invest that amount of money in a guided hunt I would be looking for more. That is not a criticism but rather a statement of what represents value to me. Similarly, if I were looking for a self guided "drop hunt" I would prefer to know that I was in a safe, authorised location and unlikely to be in the proximity of (and competition with) other hunters, fishers and bush users. In other words, I would be happy to pay for access to private property even if that meant it was a self guided and self catered hunt. Victoria is unique in legislating that deer are a protected game species however, I believe it would be foolish to think that at some point we won't fall into line with other states and declare deer as a feral pest. At the same time I predict deer hunting (and perhaps all hunting) on public land will be banned just as it is in some other states. If that happens you will wish that you had future proofed your business by providing access to private properties on which you had set up established hunting camps. As hunters, we are under enormous pressure and if public land is taken away from us we need a Plan B. I hope this helps.

    • @ZebrasSambarhuntingAdventures
      @ZebrasSambarhuntingAdventures День назад

      Hey thanks for your extended feedback 😀 can you elaborate on you would want more from my guided hunts? Is it the food ? The camping set up ? I totally get your idea with future proofing my business with private land hunting but would you believe 99.99% of my past clients wouldn't want a private land hunt. The experience is worlds apart. If you just want a trophy private land is the go, for an adventure you need the space public land provides. I believe by running my business on public land shows the governing body's there is a real market for hunting in Victoria and is helping more than someone offering a guided hunt on private land that requires nothing from parks or the like. Unfortunately I'm the only one running a hunting business in Victoria with the appropriate tour guide licence, if more were doing it surely that would be a good thing for hunting. I see it may go my way one day where you will have to book with a licensed operator to hunt public land ? Cheers for your feedback 👍

      @percyveer5974 День назад

      @@ZebrasSambarhuntingAdventures You will have to pardon my business brain - still hasn't switched off.. In essence , it is about what you are offering your clients that they cannot provide themselves. What represents value for them? Granted, you have hunting experience but what else? What makes it special? I am not criticising your methodology and I have no doubt you have happy customers. If it works for them and you that is great. My expectations may be different. As to the assertion that most of your clients prefer to hunt of public land, me too. Come visit the Grampians with me and I will show you all the places I use to be able to camp and now cannot. Perhaps in exchange you can point out the land in the proposed extension of the great Forest NP that you ( and me) may be excluded from. The writing is on the wall.

    • @ZebrasSambarhuntingAdventures
      @ZebrasSambarhuntingAdventures День назад

      @percyveer5974 if your asking what makes my drop hunts special? You will have me drop you off in an area I know holds deer, with a gps loaded with points of interest, you'll get a verbal run-down on the area and how to hunt it. You'll have a point of contact if anything goes wrong or you have success (via inreach) you can hire gear, i can organise your food, I can pick you up from the airport and even hire you a rifle. You could basically fly in with your camos on and nothing else, hunt and then fly home. Basically in a nut shell my clients are paying for me to organise their hunt.

Also when you say “wasting your time looking for a spot” , isn’t that the fun and reward from hunting? Figuring it out and studying ? Not just getting a mark and going to it. Your content and knowledge is awesome and I know ya trying to make a living out of it.

      For some time isn't available for the "fun" part of scouting. For example a busy business owner from interstate has maybe 1 or 2 trips a year to come down and hunt. Taking a stab at were to go from information gathered up to 12mths prior is absolutely a waste of time. Why is it fine for fishing but not for hunting ?

    • @FishandHunt
      @FishandHunt День назад

      This kind of assisted self-guided hunting on public land is common in many countries around the world. Australia is behind the times. I'm an expat Kiwi and an experienced Red & Fallow hunter living in NSW. I've also hunted Sambar in Victoria a few times. I could rock out in my local area tomorrow and have a better than average chance of turning up an animal of either species because I'm hunting them both regularly, I understand their habits well after nearly 40 years hunting them, I have historical and seasonal knowledge of my local area and I'm running trail cameras. On the other hand I could also head to Victoria for the only 7 days this year that I have time available to do that and, despite a lot of experience and general deer hunting knowledge, I might spend 5 days and 3 different site moves before I start getting into some productive area leaving me 2 days to make it happen. Or I could engage Zeb, support an Australian small business having a go, get put into a productive zone with some local knowledge of the area, get a bit more Sambar knowledge from a guy who's been hunting them for as long as I've been hunting Reds and give myself 6 days to make it happen. Personally I'd be way more inclined to consider doing this than a full guided hunt and a lot of other time poor but experienced people would be to. I can't really see what your issue is?

I myself would jump at the opportunity to hunt known area in a state forest. Me personally, even if I was to not get anything, knowing that there are deer in the area would be an awesome way to refine skills and techniques.

      @@ZebrasSambarhuntingAdventures HAHA. Didn’t want to come straight out and say it. 🤣 But I do see a lot of Aussie hunting content without blaze orange which is disappointing as that is where a lot of new hunters are ‘learning’ the trade. 👍

    It’s about time these government departments that spend taxpayers money on cull samba in this country come and have a look to see how many deer there are and how much impact they have on the landscape then they would realise how miss guided there culling actions are it’s a joke and disrespectful to hunters that generate millions to the economy each year

    I learned the art of hunting from my Uncle when I was 11 years old 65 years ago and we only ever hunted for food or vermin and I have carried that doctrine my whole life .I suppose that was because I was taught that way from a young age .

      I was taught by my Dad and he pumped it into me not to shoot the hinds as they were the breeders. Different thinking
